It's an impossible task to condense
33 years of a church's history into 10 min; it's an impossible
task to tell a story that is still being written. Nonetheless,
I will give you this outline of our church life.
From the time Bishop Bill came to Lincoln, he knew that God was calling him,
and everyone, to have a deeper devotion to Him. The description of the church
in Acts 2: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teachings and to the
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Every day they continued
to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate
together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of
all the people." was our guide. As in Acts, the Lord added to our numbers
daily, or weekly, bringing together those who desired to devote themselves to
God and worship Him. We grew from a bible study overflowing out of my living
room to a church in a storefront to our present building where we presently worship
and gather daily for vespers and matins.
We live in the glory of God. Each day we are thankful and joyous. We have tests
and trials. We love one another. We see each other grow and change in the Lord.
We have a good life in Christ. We purposely sought community in living close
to each other, working in Lincoln as much as possible, and meeting at vespers
nightly. We have taken to heart the lessons in scripture, "Make it as I
have loved you." We have suffered losses and troubles but God is always
still growing and changing. That is what God calls for us to do. We continue
to strive to grow into the stature of Christ and worship Him in Spirit and truth.
